Cher is releasing a whole album of ABBA covers
Not only is Cher gracing fans with the magnificence that is her cover of ABBA’s “Fernando” in the new musical “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,” but she just announced that she’s coming out with an entire album of ABBA songs.
In an interview with NBC’s “Today,” the singer said, “After I did ‘Fernando’ I thought it would really be fun to do an album of ABBA cover songs. So, I did.”
And that’s just the iconic Cher way: She does what she wants.
But, she did point out that she won’t simply be singing “Dancing Queen” and more of ABBA’s hit songs, instead, she put her signature spin on it.
“It’s not what you think of when you think of ABBA because I did it in a different way,” she told “Today.”
OK, I’m intrigued.
As far as a release date goes, Cher has tweeted that it could come in September.
Think album will be out in sept. 🤞🏻🙏🏻

In the meantime, you can enjoy Cher’s performance in “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,” which is in theaters now.
Here’s Cher’s rendition of the Swedish foursome’s hit, “Fernando” in the video below:
In the film, she plays the grandmother of Amanda Seyfried’s character and mother of Meryl Streep’s. Obviously, audiences are loving this amazing cast because it made more than $76 million in its first weekend in theaters!
And Streep, who previously starred alongside Cher in 1983’s “Silkwood,” was happy to work with the singing icon again.
“It was fantastic,” Streep told “Entertainment Tonight.” “I came on the set the day that she sang ‘Fernando.’ That was my first day … And she just lifted the lid off the place! I mean, she steals the movie!”
So — just imagine how incredible an entire album of Cher doing ABBA songs will be! Let’s just hope she does “Take A Chance On Me.”
