Christina Aguilera Says She Would Do A Duet With Britney Spears
Christina Aguilera completely understands the power of social media. She pointed out during an interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” that while the internet can be a negative place, it’s power can also be harnessed for good — and she’s provided the perfect example of that.
Aguilera said she and Britney Spears would have used social media to prove that there was never any bad blood between the two of them when they were growing up in the spotlight together, despite rumors and tabloid gossip.
“When I was coming up, it was very obvious … there was the Britney/Christina-considered-rivalry thing,” Aguilera said in an interview with Kimmel. “If we had social media back then, we would have probably done a song together and just squashed it.”
Of course, the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host couldn’t help point out that an Aguilera/Spears duet is still possibile.
Aguilera responded, “It’s probably not too late for that. … If her reps say okay… Hey, I’m down.”
There’s no denying it: These two pop icons teaming up for a song would be epic. And now that Aguilera put it out there, it’s up to social media to make it happen!
Kimmel tweeted this segment of the interview on Sept. 13, writing “Hey @BritneySpears! @Xtina would like to sing with you.”

Your move, social media.
To say that fans would love to see a duet happen is an understatement. Twitter user @DizzyGirlSusie wrote “I would die so happy if this happened.”

Many people are more than ready for a duet between the two. Twitter user @AlanArid wrote “It’s time”:

Others would just faint if this were to happen, based on this tweet from @Bluegis87:

There are those who don’t think Spears would be into the idea, as Twitter user @NateRadilla pointed out:

Some think that whether the two follow each other on social media or not is the only indicator if something like this could actually happen.
Twitter user @itsmartinv noted just how telling Instagram can be, writing “This will never happen”:

But hey, fans can dream, right?
And besides, now that Aguilera’s willingness to do a duet is out there, only time will tell if these two singers might really consider coming together. In the meantime, social media, go on and work your magic!
