Blumond Blue Prosecco Is The Latest Trendy Cocktail
The “something blue” at the next wedding you attend this summer just might be the bubbly.
Italian winery Fratelli Saraceni has produced a new sparkling adult beverage they call Blumond. Much like the vibrant Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino, the sky-blue prosecco-based beverage seems to be made for Instagram.

The eye-catching drink is already showing up at bridal showers and weddings. Don’t be surprised if soon-to-be-married couples start choosing stunning “Blumond blue” as part of their wedding color scheme.

It’s not just for special occasions, though, as people are enjoying it at happy hours as well.

Saraceni markets the blue beverage as seductive, flavorful and fun.
“Popping a bottle of Blumond sends a direct signal to the brain that something special is about to happen,” asserts the winemaker.
However, not everyone is thrilled with this new product. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Italian Sommelier Association member Wladimiro Gobbo voiced his less-than-favorable opinion, saying that the blue-hued beverage is an insult and an embarrassment.
“These are not wines but coloured liquids,” says the wine steward, “dumb-downed hybrids with a watered-down percentage of alcohol.”
Blumond is only 7 percent alcohol whereas most sparkling wines are at least 10 percent. In addition, although the brand sells itself as the world’s first blue wine, here’s the catch: The blue drink is actually a blend of curacao, peach and prosecco, making it more of a cocktail or aperitif.
(If you’re asking yourself right now: Didn’t I just read about blue wine? Yep, you did. That’s a thing now, too, but it’s not yet available in the U.S.)

If you could not care less about the alcohol content or name and just want to try this blue prosecco, you are in luck. You can snag a 750 ML bottle of Blumond from Wine.com and other online retailers for less than $20.
