This Honest PTA Letter Will Give Parents A Good Laugh

All parents know the struggle of school fundraising.

Of course, you want to pitch in, but you just don’t have the time to bake another batch of cookies or the inclination to schlep your kid around the neighborhood trying to sell candy.

At last, one Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has written the fundraising letter every parent wants to receive.

The LOL-worthy letter was shared byReddit user Charlie Olliver, and has been making the rounds on the internet, as other parents no doubt wish their kids’ school would take a similar approach to fundraising.

“Shoutout to the PTA at my kids’ elementary school for the most hilariously honest fundraiser I’ve ever seen,” Reddit user Charlie Oliver captioned the post.

The letter takes a decidedly tongue-in-cheek approach to the often tedious job of school fundraising, giving parents some comical alternatives to baking, selling, walking or serving on a committee.

“This fundraiser is in lieu of sending students home with the task of selling door-to-door, collecting money and delivering goods,” the letter reads, going on to list five hilarious donation options.

For a $10 donation, you can admit, “I do not want to bake, so here is the money I would have spent on cupcakes.”

For a $50 donation, you acknowledge, “I do not want to walk, swim or run in any activity that has the word ‘thon’ in it. Here is the money I would have spent on my child’s ‘FREE’ T-shirt.”

Parents who want to designate a specific amount can use the last option: “I am making this donation to express my appreciation for having nothing to buy, sell or do except fill out this form.”

And the funniest option of all? “I really wouldn’t have helped anyway, so here is $100 to forget my name.”

This sheet is straight-up genius AND hilarious.

The post has racked up well over 2,000 comments on Reddit, with most people being wildly supportive of the PTA’s efforts to keep it real.

“It’s such a good sales pitch for me that I almost want to support this random school that I have no idea where it’s located,” one commenter confessed.

Another commenter wrote: “A school near me did something like this. Their campaign was ‘just write a check'” It was their most successful one ever.”
