Vlasic is coming out with dill pickle chips

Our collective addiction to pickles continues. After a surge of pickle-flavored everything (pickle cupcakes, pickle ice cream and pickle popcorn, just to name a few) appearing in recipes and on stores’ shelves, Vlasic, the king of pickles, plans to get into the game with its own line of crunchy bagged pickle chips.
And here is the extra-good news: If you are on a keto diet or counting calories, these pickle chips will be a perfect snack because they aren’t potato-based, they are literally just dried-out pickle slices!
“Pickles has always been a flavor that people have loved in snacks, whether it’s potato chips or even in our Bigs Vlasic dill sunflower seeds,” said Thomas M. McGough, of Conagra Brands, during his announcement of the snack in October 2019. “But pickles themselves are a great snack, essentially no calories or carbs. But eating pickles out of a conventional jar is inconvenient and messy … so we’ve created Vlasic single-serve pickle slices and also a Vlasic vacuum-fried pickle chips that taste absolutely fantastic.”
Unfortunately, Vlasic Original Dill Pickle Chips still have yet to hit the market but it sounds like the technology behind making them will be based on a practice that’s already used for other alternatives to potato chips. McGough mentioned that the chips will be “vacuum-fried” to preserve their flavor and crunch. This technique is used to make snack chips from veggies like carrots, beets and pumpkins.
As part of its announcement of the Vlasic pickle chips, Conagra Brands also announced Duncan Hines single-serving cake packages. This line includes a Unicorn and Oreo option. The Oreo Cake Cup packed in cookies-and-creme cake mix with Oreo pieces in a single-serving package that’s ready in a minute.
These snacks did hit the market but appear to be out of stock across the web as of 2022.
As for the other snacks the company announced in 2019, Slim Jim Fried Pork Rinds indeed hit the market and are still available, while Bigs Nacho Cheese Crispy Fries can’t be found across online stores as of 2022.
Fingers crossed that Vlasic pickle chips become a reality!
