Wall-mounted Christmas trees are perfect space-savers in smaller homes

With all of the stress and challenges that 2020 has brought, it just can’t be too early to decorate for the holiday season. In fact, putting up the Christmas tree and hanging lights in your home could actually improve your mood.

“It does create that neurological shift that can produce happiness,” psychologist Deborah Serani told Today.com.

But if you live in a small space or perhaps the pandemic has resulted in more people living in your household, you might wonder if putting up a Christmas tree is even doable.

One way to enjoy the celebratory greenery in a more cramped space is to mount a Christmas tree on the wall. While you probably wouldn’t want to hang an entire, normal-sized tree, some crafty amateur home decorators have come up with creative ways to affix a tree-like adornment to any wall in your home.

One DIY method is to form an evergreen garland into a tree shape. TikTok user @elizabella253 made hers by measuring where the “branches” should go, hanging Command hooks on the wall and then wrapping lengths of garland back and forth around the hooks, almost like lacing up a shoe.

She completed the look with a couple strands of lights and a star on top. Her how-to TikTok video was liked more than 29,000 times in just three days.

Another crafty option is to hang bare branches on the wall in a Christmas tree shape, resulting in something like this eco-friendly idea we found on Twitter.

“Decorations (except lights) made from dried oranges, lemons, cinnamon sticks, anise star and paper/newspaper,” tweeted @evilolive8.

If you would rather buy than DIY, some excellent choices are available.

For example, Amazon has an artificial, wall-mounted tree that is 25 inches wide by 41 inches tall. With nearly 500 reviews and an 4.3-star average rating, this option is currently available for $19.98 and even includes lights and decorations.

If your taste leans more toward minimalism or abstract art, you might prefer an option we found from Grandin Road. Although it looks like multiple pieces, only a single nail or hook is required to hang this tree. Note that lights and ornaments are not included.

The Wall Hanging Christmas Tree is normally $99.50, but Grandin Road was running a Christmas sale at the time of this writing, reducing this unique holiday decoration to $79.60.
