The makers of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ have another new series in the works
Are you a fan of teen dramas like “Gossip Girl” and “The O.C.”? Then you’ll want to tune into a new show, “Youth & Consequences,” which is coming to YouTube Red, a paid streaming service. The series seems like a perfect fit for those who love classics from the genre!
“Youth & Consequences” centers around high school queen bee Farrah Cutney, portrayed by Anna Akana, who will also serve as executive producer on the show.
Akana gained fame through her YouTube channel, which has over two million subscribers who love her documentary- and comedic-style videos. The comedian and actress got into performance as a way to help cope with her then-13-year-old sister’s suicide in 2007.
In addition to her popular YouTube channel, you may also recognize Akana from her appearances on the TV show “The Fosters,” the movie “Ant-Man” and the rom-com “Hello, My Name Is Doris,” to name a few.
“Anna Akana’s star continues to rise, and her YouTube fans won’t be disappointed, as she brings her unique point of view to this project from in front of and behind the camera,” Susanne Daniels, YouTube’s global head of original content, said in a statement to Variety.
The full series of “Youth & Consequences” will consist of eight half-hour episodes and will debut on YouTube Red on March 7, 2018.
In addition to Akana, the series packs serious star power, with guest starring spots from Marcia Cross (“Desperate Housewives”) and Carey Elwes (“The Princess Bride”) as well as teen stars Sean Grandillo (“The Real O’Neals”) and Kara Royster (“Pretty Little Liars”).

The show is being produced by The Mark Gordon Company, the same producer behind “Grey’s Anatomy.” YouTube is hoping to cash in on the producer’s track record of success. “Their powerful storytelling, combined with this talented cast, is going to draw viewers into this riveting high school drama as these teens deal with the consequences of their decisions,” Daniels from YouTube told Variety.
We have to admit that it sounds intriguing! We just might check it out.
